A 15-member news media delegation representing 13 Chinese evening newspapers began an eight-day visit yesterday at the invitation of the Central News Agency. Liu Fengshan (劉鳳山), deputy editor-in-chief of the Tianjin-based Jin Wanpo, with a circulation of 600,000, said that his delegation hopes to enhance bilateral exchanges between media on both sides of the Taiwan Strait and to gain a better understanding of Taiwan's agricultural sector. CNA president Bill Wang (汪萬里) and editor-in-chief Jorge Liu (劉坤原) welcomed the delegation at a luncheon yesterday that was also attended by National Chung Hsing University professor Peng Tso-kwei (彭作奎), who is a former chairman of the Council of Agriculture, and National Taiwan University professor Chen Pao-chi (陳保基). Peng expressed the hope that the delegation will be able to observe Taiwan's rural life, to promote bilateral understanding and agricul-tural cooperation.
