The government has been on high alert to protect foreign envoys following the announcement by the US government that terrorists could stage another wave of attacks in the near future, Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokeswoman Katharine Chang (張小月) said yesterday. Speaking at a news conference, Chang said that the anti-terrorism war launched since the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks in the US could last for five to 10 years and that everybody should be on high alert at all times. She said that all government staff and employees of private institutions abroad have also been alerted to the terrorist threat.
