Man swallows needle

A Taoyuan resident, surnamed Huang (黃) yesterday accidentally swallowed a sewing needle when answering a phone call while holding the needle in his mouth. He was immediately rushed to the local Min-Sheng (敏盛) Hospital for emergency surgery. Huang said he was trying to do some sewing for his pregnant wife at the time. According to Taiwanese superstition, expectant mothers are not allowed to touch sewing needles or scissors.
