Presidential Secretary-General Chen Shih-ming (陳師孟), who has repeatedly declined invitations to answer legislative inquiries, yesterday set foot in the legislature to drum up support for nominees for Examination Yuan leaders. Flanked by Senior Presidential Adviser Yao Chia-wen (姚嘉文), former interior minister Chang Po-ya (張博雅) and DPP legislative leaders, Chen arrived at the lawmaking body at 3:30pm. The delegation first called on Legislative Speaker Wang Jin-pyng (王金平), asking him to help remove potential resistance to the appointment of Yao and Chang as Examination Yuan president and vice president, respectively. Wang, also vice chairman of the KMT, said he would convene a cross-party talk tomorrow to set the rules for the confirmation hearings.
