The Information Service Industry Association said yesterday it will help introduce world-class technology to upgrade the quality of Taiwan's software. James Wong (王忠正), chairman of the association, said Taiwan's software industry has grown significantly over the years. Membership in the organization has increased from fewer than 20 in 1983 to more than 800 at present, Wong said. Quoting tallies by the Institute of Information Industry, Wong said software industry production is estimated at NT$130 billion currently and may reach NT$500 billion by 2005. Wong added that the association will adopt many tactics to help boost Taiwan's software industry development, among the tactics will be the expansion of overseas sales.
