TSU wants law to audit KMT

STAFF WRITER

The TSU will next week propose a special law to allow for the auditing of the KMT's assets. Party lawmakers say the legislation will force the former ruling party to return its controversial assets to the people of Taiwan. The TSU lawmakers made the announcement yesterday after KMT Chairman Lien Chan (連戰) blamed former president Lee Teng-hui (李登輝) for "planting the seed that grew into" so-called "black-gold politics." The lawmakers say that Lien is the one who embraces "black gold," because the KMT has not yet returned the party's assets to the people, where they belong. The TSU legislators said they will introduce their proposal for auditing the KMT's assets within 10 days.
