Sources told the Taipei Times that Arthur Brown -- a senior US intelligence officer who has served in Japan and South Korea -- will soon be appointed by the CIA as the national intelligence officer for East Asia. This post will make him responsible for overseeing intelligence affairs in the region. Brown is a very experienced intelligence officer. He also served with the Congressional Research Service (CRS) of the Library of Congress for many years and is a well-known China expert. Brown will replace Robert Sutter, who now teaches at Georgetown University in Washington.
