Central Deposit inks deal

Taiwan's Central Deposit Insurance Corp (¤¤¥¡¦s«O) signed the charter of the International Association of Deposit Insurers (IADI) May 6 and formally became one of its 25 founding members, a Central Deposit official said yesterday.
The Central Deposit will abide by the aims of the organization which include stabilizing financial systems by promoting international cooperation in the field of deposit insurance, the official said.
Proposed first by Canadian Deposit Insurers, the newly founded IADI, which began operations May 8, located its permanent secretariat at the Bank for International Settlements in Basel, Switzerland. It now has 25 members, eight quasi-members and two observers.
