UMC leads shares higher after US chipmakers rise

Walsin Lihwa Corp (華新麗華) rose NT$0.15, or 1.5 percent, to NT$10.1 after the communications and power cable maker booked a NT$87.5 million (US$2.6 million) profit from the sale of 6.4 million shares of HannStar Display Corp (瀚宇彩晶).
