Taiwan's indirect investment in China in April totaled US$248 million, up 47.6 percent over April last year, the Investment Com-mission under the Ministry of Economic Affairs said yesterday.
This brings Taiwan's total investment in China in the first four months of the year to US$816 million, a 1.02 percent increase over the corresponding period of last year.
In the first quarter, Taiwan registered an 11 percent decrease in its China investment, but the sharp rise in April changed the situation. While the amount invested increased 1.02 percent in the January to April period, the number of investment cases rose 16 percent, indicating a decrease in the average investment amount of each case.
