Quanta, VIA lead stocks down on production forecast

Stocks fell for a third day this week, led by Quanta Computer Inc (廣達電腦), on a report Taiwan's computer makers will probably cut production by 8 percent this year because of slumping demand.

The TWSE Index dropped 24.71, or 0.6 percent, to 4,441.12.

Within the index, 234 stocks fell while 222 rose. For the week, the index fell 1.7 percent, though it finished November up 14 percent, its biggest monthly gain since January.

Quanta fell NT$2, or 2.4 percent, to NT$80. VIA Technologies Inc (威盛電子) fell NT$3, or 2.5 percent, to NT$117.
