Mosel Vitelic eyes merger with Infineon

FORGING PARTNERSHIPS Taiwan's money-losing memory chipmakers are looking to mergers to shield them from the global slump and bring them back to profitability

"Toshiba said it will end its development efforts and get out of the business," ProMOS Vice President Albert Lin said in an interview. "IBM and Infineon are still together." The possibility of mergers among the Taiwanese companies is "an ongoing issue," Lin said.
