Acer sees a pick-up as PC demand may start growing again

AFP , TAIPEI

Taiwan's Acer Inc (宏電) said yesterday that its brand name operations are expected to start growing again in the last quarter of this year as demand for personal computers picks up.

"Based on conservative estimates, our brand-name operations are expected to churn out sequential monthly growth of 10 percent in sales from September through December," Acer president Wang Jeng-tang (王振堂) said.

He said the company expected to ship 300,000 notebook PCs carrying the Acer brand name in the fourth quarter.
