Growing numbers of Taiwanese are going online in search of jobs, as a continued economic slowdown on the island drives the jobless rate higher, an Internet research company said yesterday.
Around 1.3 million people, or 24.5 percent of Internet users on the island, looked for job vacancies at employment Web sites in June, an increase of almost 190,000 people from May, according to Net Value Taiwan.
By contrast, only 18.8 percent of Internet users were clicking on to job sites in January.
Online job seekers spent an average of 44.2 minutes on employment Web sites in June, with each user viewing some 78 pages.
The three most popular employment Web sites in Taiwan were 104.com.tw, 1111.com.tw and myjob.com.tw.
Taiwan's unemployment rate reached a record high in June of 4.51 percent.
