The government and global logistics firm Federal Express unveiled yesterday an improved import processing system that promises to significantly cut the time needed to clear inbound products at the CKS International Airport.
The new system, developed jointly by FedEx Taiwan, will allow the Ministry of Finance and the Taipei Customs Bureau to be able to process imports within one hour of their arrival, according to the company.
The system will be able to handle cargo valued between NT$3,001 and NT$30,000, which is likely to benefit manufacturers of notebook components, chipsets, circuit boards, integrated circuit, liquid crystal display monitors, clothes and plastic product manufacturers, the company said.
Once the system is implemented by August 15, FedEx will be able to transmit data to Trade-van Information Services Company through electronic data interchange, which it will then forward to customs.
