Businesses bank on Boyden

As local firms continue to invest in China demand for Taiwanese executives there has risen. To find out more about the impact of an executive drain on the local market, `Taipei Times' reporter Patrick Kearns spoke with William Farrell, managing director of Boyden Taiwan, one of the country's oldest executive headhunting firms

TT: Are your multinational clients showing any signs of hesitating to invest in the Taiwan market due to the political and economic hurdles the nation is facing?

Farrell: No, not too much. Our clients are moving forward and continuing to invest. More and more foreign players -- in financial services for example -- are buying up companies here, setting up practices or expanding the services they offer here. So I don't see too many companies sitting on the sidelines waiting. To see more significant growth I think resolving the economic planning issue as well as getting some momentum on cross-strait issues -- and the talks moving forward -- must happen before significant confidence is restored.
