But the third largest maker of processors will still face other hurdles such as brand name recognition and a solid performance record as it tries to break into a CPU market dominated by Intel and Advanced Micro Devices Inc.
Even if it does manage to build up its market share, analysts remain less than positive about VIA's prospects in the processor market.
"In every market, the No. 1 in the market makes a lot of money," Huang said.
Intel continues to dominate the central processor unit market with a share of about 80 percent, followed by AMD with about 16 percent.
"The No. 2 makes a little money, and the No. 3 often loses money," Huang said.
VIA currently has a market share of less than 5 percent.
