The SFC gave Fidelity Investment's Southeast Asia Fund the green light to invest up to US$200 million and Jardine Fleming International Investment Management approval to invest up to US$241.5 million. It also approved plans by two other foreign institutions to invest a total of US$105 million, though SFC officials said those companies identities weren't immediately available.
As of Oct. 2, the SFC approved 235 applications for a total of US$26.19 billion this year.
Foreign institutional investors have bought NT$207 billion (US$6.5 billion) more of Taiwan stocks this year than they've sold.
Other foreign investors, including companies and Taiwan-owned offshore mutual funds, made net purchases of NT$55 billion.
