A strong continental air mass is scheduled to approach the nation on Thursday, with low temperatures likely to slide to 11?C in the north, the Central Weather Bureau said yesterday.
The bureau said that a northeast monsoon arriving last night would result in daily highs of 14?C and 15?C in northern and central regions from today through Wednesday.
Chances of showers on Tuesday and Wednesday are forecast to be high in the northern, eastern and mountainous areas in central and southern regions.
Cloudy to sunny skies are forecast for the rest of the nation, with the difference between daytime and nighttime temperatures being about 7?C. The coast and outlying islands may experience strong winds on Thursday, with the cold and wet weather easing on Sunday, the bureau said.
