A groundbreaking ceremony for the new campus of the Kaohsiung American School (KAS), as well as a celebration of the school’s 25th anniversary, was held on Tuesday in Greater Kaohsiung’s Zuoying District (左營).

Against a backdrop of lion dancing, gongs and drums, Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chu (陳菊), American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) Deputy Director Brent Christensen and Gary Oba, director of the AIT’s Kaohsiung branch, wielded the ceremonial shovels.

KAS, a private, non-profit institution has hired architect Chen Yu-lin (陳玉霖) of the Greater Kaohsiung-based MAYU architects to design the project.
