Office workers have been bombarded with wedding invitations this year, the Year of the Dragon, causing a financial burden, according to the results of an online survey published yesterday.
The survey, which was conducted by 360d job bank, showed that more than 79 percent of respondents were invited to more than two weddings this year, while 34.5 percent of respondents have attended more than four receptions.
The Year of the Dragon is believed to be an auspicious year to tie the knot.
Forty-seven percent of respondents said they were scheduled to attend one or two more weddings before the Year of the Snake begins in early February, the survey said.
Despite the economic downturn, 49 percent of respondents said the amount of money they gave as a wedding present was not less than the amount they gave last year. Sixty-four percent said they gave more than NT$2,000 per wedding, 35 percent said they gave between NT$2,000 and NT$3,000, while 29 percent said they gave more than NT$3,000.
