More than 1,000 Germans showed their support for Taiwan's bid to take part in the WHO by signing a petition on Saturday. A group of Taiwanese students and expatriates distributed flyers along a Berlin shopping street to explain to people the necessity of Taiwan being included in the WHO, urging them to show their support by signing the petition. Yang Ko-yu, the organizer of the signature drive and leader of a Taiwan-Germany art and culture exchange association based in Germany said that many young Germans immediately signed the petition upon learning that Taiwan has been excluded from the WHO because of China's obstruction, which has in turn hampered the organization's epidemic prevention and control efforts. Yang said that the petition would be presented to the German chancellor, foreign minister and Bundestag president.
