Staff writer, with CNA

A delegation led by Deputy Minister of Economic Affairs Shen Jong-chin (沈榮津) left for Tokyo yesterday to seek investors and industrial and technological cooperation.

The delegation is to visit about 10 multinationals headquartered in Tokyo during its trip, which is scheduled to run through Saturday, the ministry’s Department of Investment Services said.

The ministry will hold investment briefings in Tokyo on Taiwan’s wind-power generation, smart city and semiconductor industries and on the advantages of Taiwan’s investment environment.

With Taiwan’s complete supply chain for the high-tech manufacturing sector and Japan’s advantages in technology research and development and good brand images, there is ample room for cooperation between industries in the two nations, the department said.

Tokyo is Japan’s economic hub and the city with the highest industrial production value in the world, the department said.
