Jack Luck, one of the hosts of Star TV Chinese Channel’s Taiwan Taste (就愛台灣味), died yesterday after he was found hanging from a rope on the balcony of his home in Taipei yesterday morning.
The 26-year-old, born to an Australian father and a South Korean mother, was living in an apartment with his elder brother and his brother’s girlfriend. Luck was discovered by his brother’s girlfriend about 5am yesterday hanging from a rope at the balcony.
She immediately called the police and Luck was rushed to the Armed Forces Sung Shan Hospital’s emergency room, but was declared dead.

Luck’s brother said that he had been depressed after his girlfriend died, so they had been watching over him, but the night before the incident happened, they were still discussing the TV show and did not notice any abnormal behavior from him.
Investigators found that Luck had written notes on his smartphone saying how miserable he felt after his girlfriend died, and suspected them to be his will, but the reason for his death is under investigation.
The Taipei Department of Health yesterday said it has launched a probe into a restaurant at Far Eastern Sogo Xinyi A13 Department Store after a customer died of suspected food poisoning. A preliminary investigation on Sunday found missing employee health status reports and unsanitary kitchen utensils at Polam Kopitiam (寶林茶室) in the department store’s basement food court, the department said.
