The Tourism Bureau has invited 15 Bollywood actors to take part in a photography shoot at famous scenic locations in Taiwan for a calendar that is to be used to help attract Bollywood filmmakers to the country, a bureau official said on Tuesday.

Bollywood celebrities invited to the photography shoot include Indian representative in the 2011 Miss India Worldwide Pageant Sukirti Kandpal; model and television actress Sara Khan; actress Rubina Dilaiki and dancer and television actress Vrushika Mehta, the bureau’s Singapore office director Hsieh Chang-ming (謝長明) said.

Hsieh invited the celebrities, who are to start arriving in Taiwan on Saturday.

They are to be photographed at popular tourist sites such as Yangmingshan National Park, New Taipei City’s Shimen, Leofoo Village theme park, Taichung’s Summit Resort, Nantou’s Sun Moon Lake (日月潭) and Hualien’s Taroko National Park, Hsieh said.

Bollywood, the name for the Hindi-language film industry in India, produces more than 1,000 films annually and registered an output of more than US$4.4 billion in 2011.

Five Bollywood movies were filmed in Taiwan in 2010, Hsieh said, adding that the bureau hopes the calendar would lure more Bollywood filmmakers and Indian tourists to Taiwan.
