Foreign talent recruitment center opens

Staff writer, with CNA

Minister of Economic Affairs John Deng (鄧振中) yesterday said at the unveiling of a talent recruitment center that it would provide a one-stop service to help talented people recruited from abroad and their families to adapt to life in Taiwan.

The talent recruitment center was formally added yesterday to the InvesTaiwan Service Center, which was launched on Aug. 8, 2010. Deng said that it represented an important move forward in Taiwan’s efforts to recruit top talent.

Citing the importance of talent in a competitive world, Deng said that while Taiwan continues to nurture its own talent, it must also bring in top people from around the world, and the new center was created for that reason.

Deng said professionals coming to work in Taiwan are likely to have problems getting accustomed to daily life here and he hoped to use the center as a one-stop solution to help them solve the difficulties encountered in their daily lives and at work.

The new talent recruitment center is to be connected with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Economic Affairs’ HiRecruit Web site.

It is also to link up with 65 major enterprises in the country to understand their needs and open a channel through which they can recruit new talent.
