Police in Greater Taichung picked up a 71-year-old man suffering from dementia after he lost his way and insisted that he was heading to work.
According to the police report, the man, surnamed Chen (陳), had recently retired after working for more than a decade to found a shoe company.
Diagnosed with dementia, Chen often forgets his name and home address, but still thinks that he must go to work due to having followed a strict schedule for the past 10 years, the police said.
Despite having handed over the running of the company to his daughter and son-in-law, Chen began trying to follow his previous daily routine, setting out with his briefcase as if he were on the way to work, and in the recent incident he became lost after leaving his home.
Chen’s company and home are both located in Tanzih District (潭子), but he had walked several kilometers beyond the area before he was found by a police officer in Beitun District (北屯), police said.
Officer Huang Chun-hsien (黃俊憲) discovered Chen on Chongde 16 Road in Beitun and helped him to get home.

Four students — two Taiwanese Americans and two from Tibet — held up banners inside a conference hall where Xie was delivering a speech at the opening ceremony of the Harvard Kennedy School China Conference 2024. In a video clip provided by the Coalition of Students Resisting the CCP (Chinese Communist Party), Taiwanese-American Cosette Wu (吳亭樺) and Tibetan-American Tsering Yangchen are seen holding banners that together read:

Heat advisories were in effect for nine administrative regions yesterday afternoon as warm southwesterly winds pushed temperatures above 38°C in parts of southern Taiwan, the Central Weather Administration (CWA) said.
