Greater Kaohsiung’s I Pass card system to expand coverage

Staff writer, the CNA

Greater Kaohsiung’s Mass Rapid Transit stored-value card system is to expand operations tomorrow, allowing it to be used to pay for small transactions at supermarkets, consumer electronics stores, convenience stores as well as public transport in the special municipality and four other areas.

I Pass launched in 2008, but its use was restricted to public transportation within Kaohsiung.

The I Pass program is being expanded to include Greater Tainan, Chiayi City and Pingtung and Chiayi counties.

Consumers will be able to use I Pass cards for payments from NT$100 up to NT$10,000.
