In a move to keep abreast of the Internet era, the Chinese Nationalist Party (KMT) on New Year’s Day launched a new version of its official Web site, offering a multitude of innovative features.

Members of the public eager to join the KMT can now do so by logging onto the newly launched Web site at, where they are required to register their basic information before receiving a confirmation call from a KMT staff member to finalize their applications.

The new site also makes giving small donations to the party more convenient and efficient by allowing people to contribute using their credit cards, through WebATM and virtual accounts, or at convenience stores.

KMT members or the general public who wish to promote volunteer programs concerning the disadvantaged, environmental conservation and ecological protection can use the site’s new “volunteer online registration service,” where they can receive up-to-date information on volunteer events and share their philosophy of volunteer service.

According to a KMT member, who requested anonymity, President Ma Ying-jeou (馬英九), who doubles as KMT chairman, gave a positive appraisal of the site’s innovative style and believes that the party is heading in the right direction.

KMT spokesman Yin Wei (殷瑋) said that it was concerted efforts between the party’s various departments that helped produce the new site, a communicative platform through which the party aims to establish more substantial connections with all sectors of society.
