KMT official urges support for government

By Jake Chung  /  Staff writer, with CNA

The Chinese Nationalist Party (KMT) should reinforce its functions of helping the national apparatus and step up policy advertisements so the public can understand the government’s actions, KMT Secretary-General Tseng Yung-chuan (曾永權) told a routine party meeting yesterday.

Tseng asked the KMT to step up its actions to help the government promote its policies, meeting attendees said.

The KMT’s Communication and Culture Committee recently produced a booklet on the policies to be promoted and has distributed it to all the representatives who attended the meeting, the attendees said.

They said the booklet contains detailed explanations on the government’s and the party’s stance on several policies.

Tseng said he hopes all party representatives will familiarize themselves with the policies detailed in the booklet and help spread the “correct” information, they said, adding that he said: “We cannot allow the Democratic Progressive Party’s nonsense” to continue.

Tseng also called for the party to make appropriate plans for the election of its chairperson, representatives and Central Standing Committee members.

Tseng also discussed a Youth Corps event on Saturday that selected a representative for the party’s“new immigrants” programs, adding that President Ma Ying-jeou (馬英九) had shared the members’ concerns on the issue and hoped the Youth Corps would be able to continue its efforts to promote immigrants’ rights.
