A video showcasing the sights of Greater Kaohsiung that was recently uploaded to YouTube has gone viral, with many people praising the city’s beauty.
Titled “Kaohsiung people crying” (高雄人哭了), the video was made by Kaohsiung native Liu Chia-ta (劉嘉達), who took photographs during a motorcycle tour through the city’s 26 administrative districts.
Liu shot 4,001 photos using a single-lens reflex camera over a four-month period, then edited the pictures into a video and added background music.
The video drew more than 60,000 viewers within four days after it was uploaded onto Youtube (www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=LqODm2nldRg).
“Thank you for making Kao-hsiung look so beautiful through the shots,” one netizen said.
“I am so moved [by this video]!” another said.
Liu, 28, said he was feeling down in 2010 after breaking up with his girlfriend, so he decided to make a motorcycle tour around Taiwan.
After his tour, he said he discovered that a lot of Kaohsiung residents have no idea where to go for fun and recreation in the city, and that prompted him to undertake his in-depth research tour of the area.
“This led me to discover many enchanting scenic sites,” he said.
He said he named the video “Kaohsiung people crying” because the title is appealing and expresses the homesickness Kaohsiung natives feel when they are away from their hometown.
