A Cabinet minister from Saint Lucia, which has maintained diplomatic ties with Taipei since 2007, is scheduled to arrive in Taiwan today for a five-day visit, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said yesterday.
James Louis Fletcher, who serves as minister for public service, sustainable development, energy, science and technology of the Caribbean island nation, seeks to use his visit to learn about Taiwan’s experience in several fields, including environmental protection, energy and technology development.
The minister is also set to visit government organizations, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Economic Affairs and Research and the Development and Evaluation Commission, and attend a seminar hosted by the International Cooperation and Development Fund to share his experience.
Additionally, he plans to visit National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, Taiwan Power Co, the Neihu Science Park and Taipei 101, as well as give an interview to the monthly Taiwan Review.
It will be Fletcher’s second visit to Taiwan, the ministry said.
