The results of opinion polls related to the Jan. 14 presidential and legislative elections cannot be discussed beginning on Wednesday, the Central Election Commission reminded media and the candidates yesterday.
Political parties and individuals are not allowed to use any means to publish opinion poll results associated with presidential, vice presidential and legislative candidates in the 10 days leading up to election day, the commission said.
Exit poll results also cannot be publicly disclosed on election day until 4pm, when voting stations close nationwide. Violators face fines of between NT$500,000 (US$16,667) and NT$5 million, it said.
The commission also reminded the public that two policy presentation forums remain in the presidential campaign. One for vice presidential candidates will be held today and is sponsored by Formosa TV, while the third presidential forum will take place on Friday.
