Meari forces Lady Gaga fans to wait for ticket handout

Staff Writer, with CNA

Fans of Lady Gaga who were all set to line up tomorrow to obtain tickets for her July 3 show were forced to wait two more days when organizers announced that the distribution of tickets had been delayed because of the approach of Tropical Storm Meari.

Universal Music Taiwan said its special promotion that is set to distribute 4,000 free tickets to fans who have bought Lady Gaga’s latest album will begin on Sunday instead of tomorrow because the storm was strengthening east of the Philippines and heavy rains are forecast for the weekend.

“In consideration of the safety of fans who would have to wait in line for the tickets, Universal Music has decided to postpone the distribution by one day to June 26 at three locations in northern, central and southern Taiwan,” a press release issued by the company said.

Since it was confirmed on June 15 that the 4,000 tickets to the show would be handed out free of charge to holders of the album Born This Way, fans have been glued to their computers waiting for the announcement of the details on Universal’s Web site and Facebook page as most students would have finished their final exams by that time.

Universal said that if the tropical storm causes any suspension of work, the event scheduled for Sunday would be further postponed.

The pop diva is scheduled to visit Taiwan next Friday for a five-day promotional tour for her latest album that was released last month.
