Chu was briefed by the Council of Agriculture and the Ministry of Education yesterday.
Council Minister Chen Wu-hsiung (陳武雄) said the council had created 15 groups composed of agriculture experts from academia and the corporate sector to serve in typhoon-hit areas to provide farmers and fishermen with technical support and consulting services.
A ministry report showed that 18 elementary and junior high schools, with a total of 1,466 students, were affected by the typhoon in Nantou County, Chiayi County, Kaohsiung County, and Pingtung County, while 1,196 students were resettled in other schools or makeshift classrooms.
