    Rebar defendants out of detention

Wang Lin-chiao (¤ý¥O¹´), one of the defendants in the Rebar Asia Pacific Group case, was expected to leave the Taipei Detention House late last night, after his lawyer handed over NT$30 million (US$1 million) bail to the court yesterday.

Frank Wang (¤ý¨Æ®i) and Wang Lin-tai (¤ý¥O¥x), also defendants in the same case, left the detention house on Monday, after paying their bail.

This leaves only Wang Lin-i (¤ý¥O¤@) in detention.

Wang Lin-chiao¡¦s lawyer Lee Wen-chung (§õ¤å¤¤) brought the NT$30 million in cash to the Taipei District Court at around 4pm yesterday afternoon. Lee said that as soon as the new bail amount had been determined, the money had been raised through friends and other channels.

On April 3, the Taipei District Court lowered the bail amounts for the four Wangs from the original NT$150 million per person to amounts between NT$50 million and NT$30 million. The court decided to lower the bail, originally set in February, since the family was unable to raise the money.

The Rebar case revolves around 80 companies and more than NT$70 billion in missing funds. During the investigation, a total of 96 people were banned from leaving the country for interrogation purposes.

Former Rebar Group chairman Wang You-theng (¤ý¤S´¿) and his wife Wang Chin She-ying (¤ýª÷¥@^) remain wanted fugitives.
