Taiwan can similarly enter into the race toward developing the cheapest and most efficient clean energy and jump onto the massive economic opportunity bandwagon for the booming energy market of the future, he said.
"Taiwan is already a world leader in energy efficiency and possesses some of the most advanced clean energy technologies; it also has great wind energy resources; when coal-burning power plants fail to comply with new energy laws, a lot of money could be made with these technologies," he said.
"Although Taiwan is not yet in the UN it has made efforts on par with current international trends -- I'm sure whoever is elected as the next president is going to have the issue much more on his agenda -- the physical reality of global warming is driving politics," he said.
