Starting tomorrow, Taiwan Post Co will offer a storage service for students heading home for the winter break.
The post office said in a statement yesterday that students could box up their personal items and take them to post offices near their schools. When the spring semester begins, students can either pick up the packages themselves or have them delivered.
The post office will provide boxes in two sizes at NT$100 and NT$160 respectively.
Students who bring their own boxes will be charged a flat rate of NT$160 per box.
Fragile items, such as computers or monitors, can be stored at NT$250 each.
The post office said it would also collect items from students' residences at an additional charge of NT$20 for the first package and NT$10 each for any subsequent boxes.
Students are exempt from additional charges if they have more than 10 packages, the post office said.
The service is available to all students, including foreign students and those studying Chinese in Taiwan. People wishing to make use of the service will be asked to present student identification cards.
The post office said the storage service will continue until Feb. 1.
In addition, Taiwan Post said post offices would operate normally today, offering fast delivery and express mail services.
