Thunderstorms and showers expected as cold front arrives

A cold front is expected to reach the country today, with chances of showers and thunderstorms in most areas, the Central Weather Bureau said.

From today through Wednesday, all areas -- including Kinmen and Matsu -- will have cloudy skies and chances of showers or thunderstorms.

Temperatures will also drop from last week's highs.

In the north, temperatures will remain high today, ranging from 20oC to 30oC.

Starting however, lows will drop to 19oC and remain at 18oC to 20oC throughout the week, with highs dropping to 25oC tomorrow and staying in the mid-20s for the rest of the week, except for Wednesday, when temperatures between 18oC and 23oC are expected.

In central Taiwan, temperatures will be similar, with a one or two degree difference.

Rains likely to stop on Thursday, with the sky remaining overcast.

Temperatures be higher in the south, with a high of 31oC on Monday and a low of 24oC.

However, temperatures will drop beginning tomorrow, from 20oC to 27oC.

As in the central part of the country, showers should stop on Thursday, with skies remaining covered.

In the northeast, showers are expected throughout the week, with temperatures dropping to 18oC to 24oC from tomorrow through Sunday.

Showers also expected throughout the week in the east, with temperatures ranging from 19oC to 25oC starting tomorrow.

In the southeast, showers are only expected for tomorrow and Wednesday. The area will remain hot, with highs reaching 33oC today and temperatures ranging from 20oC to 28oC throughout the week.
