Teacher suspended for strange behavior

A primary school said yesterday it had suspended a teacher for molesting girl pupils and fining pupils for passing wind in class.

Wu Jung-jun (吳榮潤), principal of the Hulin Primary School in Hsinchu, said the school had suspended the teacher -- identified only by his surname Tung (童) -- and did not rule out dismissing him for misconduct.

Tong allegedly molested girl pupils by forcing them to sit on his lap so that he could check their "oral hygiene."

"He would put his cheek to the girls' cheeks, wrap his arms around their waists and even touch their bottoms," Wu told a news conference.

Tong was also accused by the pupils of fining them for passing wind in class and for annoying him.

They said he made up names for the school principal and other teachers. He called principal Wu "Mr Balls" and addressed boy pupils "Hey, You Sperm" and girl pupils "Hey, You Egg."

TV reports said that Tong works as a shaman in his spare time.

He claimed that some of his pupils were demons and said he would kill several people, including fellow teachers, after he retired.
