Presidential Office traffic controls in force for New Year

Traffic measures will be in place on roads surrounding the Presidential Office plaza next Monday to facilitate a flag-raising ceremony on New Year's Day, the Taipei police department's traffic division reported yesterday.
The traffic controls will be put into place on Boai Road, Baoqing Road, Gongyuan Road, Guiyang Road, Xiangyang Road, Zhongshan S Road, Aiguo W Road and Changde Street, between 2am and 5:30am on Jan. 1, the traffic police sources said.
The New Year flag-raising ceremony is scheduled to be held at the Presidential Office plaza between 6am and 6:30am on Jan. 1 under the sponsorship of the National Association of Small and Medium Enterprises and other public agencies, the police said.
Another New Year flag-raising ceremony is also scheduled to be held at the square in front of Taipei City Hall beginning 5:30am on Jan. 1, to be followed with a mass morning jog, officials from the Taipei city government said yesterday.
Traffic will be put into place on Renai Road, Shifu Road, Songgao Road and Songshou Road between 6:30am and 7:30am that day, city government officials said.
