Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Legislator Hsiao Bi-khim (蕭美琴) has been re-elected vice chairperson of London-based Liberal International (LI), an official from the DPP's Department of International Affairs said yesterday. According to the official, Hsiao was re-elected as one of the five LI vice chairpersons during the organization's 54th Congress which took place between Nov. 8 and Nov. 11 in the Moroccan city of Marrakesh. Hsiao's re-election demonstrates LI 's recognition of the DPP's contributions to global democratic development, the official said. DPP lawmaker Yeh Yi-jin (葉宜津) was also re-elected as a whip of LI's International Network of Liberal Women. The DPP became a formal member of LI in 2002. Li is an alliance of liberal and progressive democratic political parties from more than 60 countries.
