Charity organizations, including the Pearl S. Buck Foundation and the Foundation of Can Love, held a press conference yesterday to promote services for foreign brides and their children to help them adjust to life. According to the foundations, 370,000 children in Taiwan have a foreign parent, and many students from "cross-border" families encounter difficulties in school due to a lack of Chinese language ability. The foundations announced that they offer free hotline consultation services for foreign mothers who have questions about life in Taiwan and their children's performance in school. For more information, contact the Pearl S. Buck Foundation at (02) 2369-8880, or visit its Web site (www.psbf.org.tw).
