A fight broke out between two lawmakers on the legislative floor yesterday.
The brawl occurred as Democratic Progressive Party Legislator Lee Chen-nan (李鎮楠) became angry at Chinese Nationalist Party (KMT) Legislator Chen Chao-rung (陳朝容) for occupying the podium to protest policy on oil prices.
Chen hit Lee after he knocked the placard that Lee was holding out of his hands with a budget statement.
The two then grappled for a couple of minutes before legislative staff, other lawmakers and a policeman pulled them apart.
Lee said Chen's occupation of the platform had disrupted his interpellation, which was why he threw the budget statement, while Chen said that he had asked for a few minutes from Lee in advance and Lee had agreed.
The two lawmakers went to National Taiwan University Hospital for a checkup and later said that they would file suit against each other.
