The Taipei City Government will hold a public draw on Oct. 1 to celebrate the 2006 New Immigrants Cultural Festival, the Department of Civil Affairs announced.
The department will give away 15 prizes for immigrant couples from China, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Cambodia, the Philippines or the Dominican Republic.
The prizes will be a subsidy of NT$10,000 that can be used to purchase plane tickets for two of the couples' family members to visit them in Taiwan during the Lunar New Year holidays.
Eligible family members include the couple's parents, siblings, aunts, uncles or other blood relatives, Taipei Civil Affairs Director Chung Tse-liang (鍾則良) said.
Couples have until Sept. 4 to enter the draw. To qualify, couples must have residency permits and officially reside in Taipei.
For couples where only one is a foreigner, he or she must be an immigrant residing in Taipei.
Couples can enter the draw by applying in person at the Civil Affairs Department or at district household registration offices.
Alternatively, they can download the application forms from the department or the Taipei City New Immigrants' Hall's Web sites and send the completed entries by mail, fax or e-mail.
