The 2006 Taipei Healthy Cities Leaders Roundtable and International Healthy Cities Conference is scheduled to take place in Taipei next week as delegates from 28 cities around the world gather to discuss major health issues including infectious diseases and HIV. The forum, sponsored by the Taipei City Department of Health for the third year running, will focus on three themes for discussion -- infrastructure development, civic pride and urban governance. Department Commissioner Sung Yen-jen (宋晏仁) said the forum would also seek solutions to combat the spread of influenza, tuberculosis and HIV. The forum will be held Aug. 22-24 at the Grand Hotel.
