Chinese Nationalist Party (KMT) Chairman Ma Ying-jeou (馬英九) yesterday announced that he had donated NT$100 (US$3) on Tuesday afternoon to support former Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) chairman Shih Ming-teh's (施明德) fundraising campaign to oust President Chen-Shui-bian (陳水扁). The campaign is aimed at getting a million people to each make a donation of NT$100 to fund the movement. Ma, who had previously said that he would not make a donation, yesterday said he decided to show his support to the campaign as an individual donor. "I made the donation as `Mr. Ma Ying-jeou,' not as `Taipei Mayor Ma Ying-jeou' or `KMT Chairman Ma Ying-jeou,'" he said after joining a municipal event in Fubon Conference Center.
