Taiwan Quick Take: TV channels face new rules

The National Communications Commission (NCC) indicated that it will require all television channels using file footage or simulated news footage in their news programs to inform their viewers with written descriptions about what they are watching. Members of the NCC agreed at a meeting on Tuesday that some TV channels have been using such footage in their news programs as if it were part of the current news -- a practice that often misleads viewers. According to the NCC, if the result of the notice is unsatisfactory, they would consider amending the law to ban all TV channels from continuing the practice.
