Taiwan Quick Take: Lawmaker touts baseball trip

Democratic Progressive Party Legislator Tang Bi-a (唐碧娥) yesterday called on baseball fans to join a trip to the US to cheer for New York Yankees pitcher Wang Chien-ming (王建民) early next month. "We want to organize a group of 100 people to see a game on Sept. 13 in which [Wang] will pitch [against the Los Angeles Angels]. We might also have a chance to have dinner with him," Tang said. Wang is a Taiwanese star who has performed exceptionally in his second major league season, and his down-to-earth personality exemplifies Taiwanese characteristics,Tang said.
