Hong Kong and Macau residents attending Double Ten National Day celebrations no longer need to pay the NT$400 visa fee, the Mainland Affairs Council announced yesterday. Council Vice Chairman Johnnason Liu (劉德勳) said the move was aimed at encouraging Hong Kong and Macau residents to visit Taiwan either individually or with groups to attend Double Ten celebrations between Sept. 1 and Oct. 31. Liu said that the decision was a consensus reached by the council and the ministries of the interior and finance last year.
